About Us

Hello all, I am so glad you are here!  My name is Ashton Long, and I am a Family Nurse Practitioner that found her calling in the world of functional medicine.  I am privileged to be trained in both conventional medicine and functional medicine for an integrative approach.  I graduated with my BSN from Tarleton State University and a Masters of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from The University of Texas at Arlington.  I study functional medicine at the School of Applied Functional Medicine.

 I am a wife to Cameron Long and a mom to a fiery little boy named Reid.  I found my way into functional medicine after many of my own misdiagnoses in the conventional system.  I was always told that I looked "fine," but I felt far from fine.  Many Providers would explain that they weren't sure why I felt poorly and had pain.  They didn't exactly know why I could not conceive and have a baby.  They labeled me with several illnesses that just didn't seem to make sense and honestly that hadn't even been properly tested for.  No one could tell me why or better yet how I could heal from the labels I had been given.  I finally went to a Provider who did some digging and uncovered a genetic SNP and an autoimmune condition that helped explain many of my symptoms.  

I am still walking out my own path to wellness, which became much more complicated after my sweet little boy became ill with mold toxicity.  I am convinced that nothing happens without being used for the glory of God.  It has been even more difficult to watch my little one suffer, but God has used our suffering to teach me and mold me into who I am today.  I feel those who have walked this path themselves are often the most equipped to understand how hard the journey can be but know that it is possible to find a path to healing.
